Thoreau - Rhum & Cognac
Thoreau Rhum & Cognac is a blend of Guatemalan sugarcane rum, specifically 70% El Pasador de Oro rum and 30% rounded VSOP cognac , which has been aged for at least four years in oak barrels. In one bottle, you will find the exotic aromas of banana and Crème brûlée from the Guatemalan rum, combined with the bitter orange notes of the cognac.
Jean Moueix and Alexandre Sirech, managers of the company ""Les Bienheureux"" , founded seven years ago, are launching a cognac rum named Thoreau in honor of the American thinker. Henry David Thoreau , the 19th-century American philosopher, poet and naturalist, author of ""Walden or Life in the Woods"", spent two years and two months in solitude near Walden Pond, Massachusetts, isolating himself in huts to live in full symbiosis with nature and, if possible, naked.
“It’s an old idea that I’ve had for about 15 years,” explains Alexandre Sirech. “With 70% rum and 30% cognac, the exotic aromas of banana and crème brûlée combine with the bitter orange notes of cognac.”
