Laska was almost wiped out by phylloxera and only 10 Laska vines survived, which winemaker Joszef Szentesi discovered at the wine research institute in Pécs and planted in his vineyard. It makes for a deeply coloured wine, reminiscent of young ripe Bordeaux, with gentle tannins and lots of fruit, especially blackcurrants and blackberries. There is also some black pepper. The wine was spontaneously fermented and then matured for 14 months in oak barrel. Only 700 bottles were made.
